Welcome Baby Grogu

The Memphis Zoo is thrilled to announce the birth of our newest family member, baby aardvark Grogu. Born on November 4, 2024 in our Animals of the Night exhibit, Grogu has already captured the hearts of our staff and visitors alike.

"Grogu represents hope for his species and brings such joy to our zoo community. His playful spirit and gentle nature make him a perfect ambassador for aardvark conservation."

Grogu is the cherished offspring of our adult aardvarks, Sunshine and Boss. From his early days being hand-reared by our dedicated care team, Grogu has shown a wonderful personality that makes him one of our most charismatic residents.

Born weighing 3 pounds and 11 ounces, Grogu's arrival is a moment of celebration for our zoo community. His birth followed his mother Sunshine's carefully monitored pregnancy, which was confirmed via ultrasound in July.
